Driving south past the new hospital construction, you see the front of Hacienda Mundaca. Well...
It was hard to recognize with the shop stalls they put in front. But the growing, giant Tinker Toys monstrosity is another matter.
Palapas "they" say. Palapas? Pointing down? Where will the people go in them?
Hope this turns into some kind of museum for Isla Mujeres heritage and NOT some sort of tourist attraction that detracts from what is behind the white stalls, the origin of Isla Mujeres!

Curious looking loghouse. And when were the shop stalls built in front of Mundaca?
The stalls were built since September, but have yet to open. They are for the merchants who have been removed from selling shell carts, coco frios, etc. under nearby trees.
Looks like the trees were removed also. Hope removed merchants were able to find a new location, in shade, and their children will be paid staff at new heritage center? (Not a bad idea, if ....)
Museum? Don't count on it. They will do the same thing as at Punta Sur. More shell merchant, etc. It will become another tourist trap.
No, the museum is in my dreams only as far as I know. It looks like a future tourist trap and the merchants have been told to wait for a stall. There are no coco frios or deshelled Barbies for sale now. Perhaps they moved to Playa Indios for the spring breakers coming in from Cancun now. I don't know...
It is a puzzle, that's for sure. I would love to see the renderings.
