Oxxo store in the middle of Centro!

It's the brouhaha of the moment...an Oxxo store nearly ready to open at the interesection of Hidalgo and Madero. Three doors west of Miguel's Moonlite. The bright neon is the light in front of Farmacia Mejor, on the left would be the old Gomar's restaurant. Progress?

Is this the corner that used to have that nasty t-shirt store? The one with the filthy sayings on them? If so, then yes this is progress.

Maybe this will give Miguel more business in this not so popular location. If so, I am all for it as he is a wonderful person.

Nasty store? Not in my opinion. Many stores stocked those cheap, x-rated shirts--never saw one on a local. But Artesanias Paty also stocked the best quality t-shirts I've found anywhere (heavy cotton/didn't shrink in the wash). My husband is still wearing those purchased 10-20 years ago, when I spent many hours sitting and chatting with the fun street kids who worked there for David Adame, a nice man who cared about their welfare. But, life marches on ...

Well, excuse me! After looking at the photo again, maybe my favorite white wooden building is still be there! And the nasty store is not! :-)

I imagine it will hurt the small tiendas in that area of El Centro. Tourists who would have bought drinks and snacks from them will head into the chain store. Progress.
